Gronk sufferc broken forearm:?New England Patriots tight end?Rob Gronkowski is finished for the postseason after breaking his forearm?in Sunday?s win over the Houston Texans. It was the same forearm that Gronk broke earlier in the season that caused him to miss five games. He?ll have surgery to repair the injury and should be ready by the time training camp rolls around. In the short term, it?s a blow to the the Patriots offense ? as well as anyone who selected Gronkowski in the Playoff Challenge. However, New England showed what it can do even without its multi-dimensional tight end as?Aaron Hernandez,?Brandon Lloyd and?Wes Welker became even bigger parts of the offense. Expect that to continue this week in the AFC Championship Game.
Dolphins? RB situation in flux: Looks like the Miami Dolphins could be searching for a new running back. According to?Miami Herald?columnist Armando Salguero, the Dolphins plan to submit a ?team friendly? offer to?Reggie Bush, meaning the rusher could look elsewhere for a bigger free agent deal. However, it doesn?t seem like Miami has a lot of help further down the depth chart.?Lamar Miller only had double-digit carries twice during the season and never topped 73 rushing yards. Meanwhile,?Daniel Thomas is slated to have knee surgery and could be moving down the depth chart headed into next season.
Housler praised by Cardinals? GM: Most of the talk about the Arizona Cardinals? offense this season centered on the team?s awful quarterback play and what it did to the fantasy value of?Larry Fitzgerald. But lost in that chatter was the promise shown by second-year tight end?Rob Housler. The undrafted pass-catcher was tied for third-most catches on the team with 45 while gaining 417 yards ? numbers that likely would have been higher if the Redbirds had a decent QB. All the while, this made the oft-injured?Todd Heap?obsolete within the offense. Don?t get overly excited, Housler won?t be mistaken for a top-tier tight end anytime soon. But after a season in which the position was wildly inconsistent, he could become a good matchup-based option for weeks when fantasy owners are in need.
