London A/W ?13: The Burberry Beauties. On and Off the Catwalk

Tue, 19 February 2013 12:26PM

Burberry is fast becoming London Fashion Week?s answer to Paris?s Chanel show. It?s the catwalk that triggers fashion trends that will pop up in Zara within weeks, and the beauty looks that will make their way to our bathroom faster than you can say ?oxblood nail?.

Take, for instance, yesterday?s show.

?

Swoon. So many great beauty and fashion boxes have been ticked? Leopard print. Love hearts. A whooshy blow-dry. Statement brows. Earthy-toned makeup. A deep berry nail. I don?t know about you, but I want all of the above (Okay, except praps not a plastic skirt over big nanna pants).

As with chez Chanel, the Burberry runway is also quite the glamorous launchpad for new Burberry Beauty buys (currently available at selected David Jones or online at David Jones). That lacquer, for instance, is one shade (?Oxblood?) from the upcoming Burberry Nails collection. Also making their way from Cara to counter (watch this space for exactly when) are new lip colours (could there be a cuter shade name than ?Trench Kiss??) and some Kajal Crayons. Them some clever marketing cookies over at Burberry.

And how crafty to turn Burberry?s front row into its own kind of fashion and beauty show. Burberry not only invites a slew of A-listers along, but also dolls and primps them up for the occasion. Some of my favourite off-catwalk looks happened to be ?

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

?

It?s not quite right how ridiculously good-looking she is, is it? But what I love about Rosie here is how healthy she seems, which can be a breath of fresh air in the modelling world. Cue a bright outfit, big bouncy blow-dry, and generous dose of a shimmery champagne shade on the lids (try Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in Pale Barley, $45). Also a must: nude liner on the inner rims to cancel out any redness and make eyes look bigger and brighter. For this nifty trick, I love Rimmel London Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal Waterproof Eye Liner in Nude, $9,.95, pharmacies.

Olivia Palermo

?

The beyond-fabulous glossy hair aside, I adore it when Olivia brings out the purple and plum shades of eye shadow, which makes her chocolate-brown eyes look even more shiny and sparkly. For this look, try Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in Midnight Plum, $45.

Freida Pinto

?

Okay, the outfit?s a little dubious ? but the classic bright-red lip makes up for it. And that would very likely be Burberry Lip Mist in Rosy Red, $49, which can be applied lightly for a stained effect, or built up to ramp up the wow factor. And, uh, take the spotlight off your green satin slacks.

Kate Beckinsale

?

So Kate kinda looks like she always does. Pert, perky ponytail. Tick. Pale pouty lips. Yep. Contoured cheeks. Always. But boy is she working those Burberry Oxblood nails quite fabulously. While we wait for this lovely lacquer to drop, try Essie Nail Polish in Berry Hard, $18.95, Myer.

Mira Duma

?

You might remember a while back, our ex Ed Eliza waxing lyrical about Mira, her girl crush and Russian fashion writer. And now?I?m totally hopping on the Mira fan bandwagon, too. Could you get anymore fabulous than this? How?s the emerald sequin skirt working back to the collar necklace and contrasting with a simple, chic white shirt? And don?t get me started on the gorgeous, glitzy trench. On the beauty front, I love the messy pinned-up plaits and sooty eye makeup (which I?m guessing it courtesy of Burberry?s new Kajal Crayon in Poppy Black). Can I please be Mira when I grow up?

?

Tell me, Primpers, which is your favourite beauty look?

Have you tried any Burberry beauty buys yet?
