Suwannee Co., FL - Big tractors, cranes and vast spanses of nothing but dirt. If you look closely, you'll see that means jobs are on the way.
Construction crews are literally clearing the way for a new Chip Mill in Suwannee County, Florida. And with it, locals will soon find over 350 permanent jobs.
More than 200 acres have been cleared for the new Chip Mill. It's going to be called "Klausner Lumber One". They're going to be exporting lumber products all over the world.
The Chipmill is in the North West portion of Suwannee county, not far from Live Oak. Community leaders are thrilled about the impact it'll have for the Suwannee, Hamilton and Columbia County area, a rural region of North Florida plagued by steep unemployment.
It's too early to say when they'll start hiring, but you can check in with your local labor office for updates.
Have no doubt about it, Chip Mills can be hard work, but what's important is getting folks back to work.
