This Haswell-Packing Gaming Laptop Is Your Deal of the Day

This Haswell-Packing Gaming Laptop Is Your Deal of the Day

Haswell, Intel's newest line of processors, is currently rolling out into consumer computers, and Haswell-equipped laptops are already price competitive with older models. For example, this 14-inch Lenovo gaming laptop packing a quad-core Core i7-4700MQ is on sale for $720.

Haswell promises a bunch of improvements to Ivy Bridge, the most important being improved battery life. If you're buying a laptop now, you should probably be looking for a Haswell-equipped machine unless you're getting a steal?but these Haswell machines from Lenovo are already about the same price as comparatively spec'ed Ivy-Bridge laptops.

Lenovo's put three different models of the IdeaPad Y410 on sale. All three have Nvidia GeForce GT750M graphics cards and 8GB of RAM, but I'd opt for the midrange Y410p, which includes an improved 1600x900 screen. The top-tier model has a hybrid SSD hard drive, but you might as well pick up a cheap SSD and install it yourself. Regardless, if you pick up this deal, as the world waits at WDCC for Haswell Macbooks, you'll already have your next-gen laptop.

Don't forget to plug in the code HOMEPCDEAL. [Lenovo]

We're Not Posting Rakuten Deals Anymore

Yesterday there was a moderately exciting coupon code at Rakuten Marketplace that gave 30% of your order value back in store credit. Shane over at the Moneysaver used to to part out his new machine. We've been posting Rakuten deals because they seem great on the surface, but a lot of shoppers have been having problems.

Apparently many users on Slickdeals have had fraudulent credit card charges shortly after ordering from Rakuten Marketplace?the same program that most of these sweet deals have been coming from. Of course, it's a thread full of anonymous bargain shoppers, but some of the accusations seem serious. So we're not going to post any more deals from Rakuten until further notice. If you were personally hit by fraudulent charges after shopping at Rakuten or know anything about this security breach, I'd love to hear about it. kif@gizmodo.com.

Audio

This Haswell-Packing Gaming Laptop Is Your Deal of the Day

Friend of Dealzmodo Sound Earphones sent over a pretty great coupon code yesterday. It's for some cheap Phonak in-ear monitors. I wasn't totally familiar with the company, but it's legit. Phonak is an actual audio company that primarily makes hearing aids?genuine medical equipment costing thousands of dollars?and the two models that Sound Earphones are blowing out have been very well reviewed.

You've got two options, the Phonak 132, which comes with an Apple-compatible remote, for $100, and the Phonak 122, which has a single button remote for $80. Same headphones, different remote. Both of these sets are still $200 almost everywhere else. Don't forget the code DEALZMODO to knock $100 off. [Sound Earphones]
