Family Fun at the Buffalo Zoo - buffaloniagararealestatehomesales ...

Family Fun at the Buffalo Zoo

The Buffalo Zoological Gardens was established in 1875, which makes it the third oldest zoo in the nation. The Zoo?s philosophy is to showcase animals and plants in their requisite habitats representing the world?s many biomes. Continual improvements throughout its existence have made the Buffalo Zoo a great family venue, whether for recreation or education. Whereas the Buffalo Zoo?s animals were once brought in for the specific purpose of entertaining visitors, today, the animals at the Zoo are presented to raise awareness of the importance of conservation, not only for the benefit of the animal themselves, but also for the benefit of people.

The 23.5-acre urban zoo houses some of the planet?s most endangered and exotic wildlife, from both near and far. The animals are allowed freedom of movement in large enclosures filled with streams, pools, verdant trees, lush flora, and more. It?s a great place to see amazing and beautiful animals and have tons of family fun.

Animals

  • Mammals ? tigers, elephants, lions, otters, sheep, leopards, monkeys, gorillas, seal lions, and more
  • Reptiles ? American alligators, many kinds of lizards, tortoises, and snakes
  • Amphibians ? Poison arrow frogs (several species), crested toads, tomato frogs
  • Birds ? all sorts of ducks, vultures, parrots, swans, geese, and more
  • And one of the zoo?s specialties, among its many invertebrates, is the giant Brazilian cockroach
